Americans can now change their Gmail address. If you have been somewhat ashamed of writing your Gmail address on forms for years, you will soon be able to get a more mature or otherwise better-suited Gmail address. Your old address will not be changed, the email will be routed, as it were. You will then receive emails to both addresses in the same mailbox. At the moment it only applies to Americans, but it is a matter of time before we can also use it in all world. It was already possible in India last year, but now also in the United States.

Change Gmail address

For example, it can also be used for those who have a different name due to marriage or divorce. However, it is good to take into account what is involved: it is useful to immediately change your email address for as many accounts as possible, so that you do not get confused about which email address you are using where. However, it is important to handle the change carefully: it is only allowed once a year. And by that we mean once every twelve months. Once it is available, open the Gmail app and tap your profile icon. You then go to the option to manage your Google account and then you can go to the email option via the settings, the personal information, and there you will see an arrow next to your email address and the option to change your Google account email.

Never before have you been able to change your Gmail

It has never been possible to change your Gmail account: you always had to create a completely new Gmail address first and that was a lot of hassle. It causes a proliferation of email addresses and although Google sometimes cleans up and throws away a whole host of email addresses that are no longer active, this change does mean that fewer new email addresses need to be created. But above all, many people can be happy with their email address again, because Gmail is the most used email program in the world and so there are a lot of people who can benefit from this change.
