HP introduces passively cooled laptop with 15.7mm thickness
HP has announced the EliteBook Folio 1020. This is a business laptop with a thickness of 15.7 mm and an Intel Core M processor, which is passively cooled. The laptop with 12.5″ screen comes in variants with resolutions of 1920×1080 and 2560×1440 pixels.
According to HP, it is the ‘thinnest and lightest business laptop’ to date. The laptop will be available in a regular variant and a Special Edition: the former weighs 1.2kg and the latter will weigh around 1kg. The case is wedge-shaped and made of magnesium alloy combined with carbon fibres.
The laptop is certified to the MIL-STD 810G standard and must withstand shock, humidity and pressure. Furthermore, the EliteBook supports Intel’s business vPro platform and there is a rpm 2.0 module for, among other things, storage of passwords and encryption keys.
In addition, HP reports the presence of a webcam with 720p resolution and two front speakers that support the reproduction of HD audio with DTS for video conferencing. HP is not yet releasing many more details about the laptop. The EliteBook Folio 1020 will be released in early 2015.
