Video conferencing tool Zoom starts supporting virtual wallpapers in the Android version of its app. The feature has been available on other platforms for some time, but not yet in Google’s mobile operating system.

The support for virtual wallpapers is in the version that became available with an update in the Play Store this week, Android Police reports. It’s only about photos as backgrounds, because videos as virtual backgrounds don’t work yet. The feature will not work on Chrome OS, Android Police notes.

The feature has been in the iOS version for much longer, but Zoom temporarily halted development of new features in April to work on security. It is unclear whether this brought the release of virtual wallpapers in the Android app to a standstill, but that is obvious.

The update also adds other functions, such as sharing audio from the device in addition to the microphone for those who want to play audio from, for example, a movie during a call. Zoom is now on more than a hundred million Android devices. The company did not release any usage figures recently, but in April Zoom said that all calls added together had 300 million participants.
