Valve adjusts wording Team Fortress 2 blog post on update, promises less
Valve has slightly edited the wording in its blog post about the upcoming Team Fortress 2 update. It seems that the company wants to lower expectations for the update.
Valve has in the blog post replace the text ‘an update of update format’ with ‘an update of holiday format’. With certain holidays, such as Halloween, the game will temporarily be updated with the theme of that holiday. Such updates are smaller than other major updates such as Jungle Inferno and Meet Your Match. With this, Valve seems to want to clarify that the update will be smaller than interested players may now expect.
In addition, the enumeration of what players can expect in the previous version of the posting with ‘and who knows what else?’; that phrase can also no longer be found in the current version of the blog post. With that, the update seems to consist of ‘items, levels, taunts, effects, war paints and fixes from the community’.
On Reddit, where a user notified readers of the change, is disappointed. It will be the first time in a long time that Valve will release an update for its 2007 multiplayer shooter. The last major update that wasn’t a recurring seasonal event was Jungle Inferno, from 2017. Although the game has received little attention from its developer, it remains as popular as ever. Currently, almost 100,000 people are playing the game. This puts the game in tenth place on the list of most played Steam games at the moment.
