Ubisoft says during The Game Awards 2023 that the highly anticipated pirate game Skull and Bones will be released on February 16, 2024. The game was originally scheduled for release in 2018 and has since been delayed several times.

The last postponement of Skull and Bones took place in October, when Ubisoft reported that the game was being pushed to another quarter. That meant a release in the first three months of 2024 and Ubisoft now confirms that with an official release date. In addition to the announcement trailer below, the French publisher shares a longer one gameplay trailer explaining various gameplay mechanics. In a separate one blog post Xbox announced that a closed beta testing weekend will be held between December 15 and 18.

Skull and Bones was originally announced at E3 in 2017 and was delayed again and again in the years that followed. In 2020 it was revealed that Ubisoft would give the game a significantly different approach, meaning that development had to start over in some areas.
