Ubisoft has announced a ‘team battle arena’ game called Project Q. The French game publisher and developer underlines that it is not a battle royale game. It is a player-versus-player title.

Ubisoft tells that the game is in early stages of development. Well, the forms to participate in the first tests of the game opened. Those tests take place on the current and previous generation Xbox and PlayStation and Windows. Ubisoft also assures interested parties that it “has no plans” to include NFTs in the game. Finally, this official announcement includes an image of some concept art of the game.

On the less official side, there is also something to say about Project Q. It was one of the games on the leaked title list from game streaming service Geforce NOW. Nvidia called the content of that list “speculative,” but since the leak last September, a striking number of those speculations have become reality, including God of War for Windows, Kingdom Hearts IV, Crysis 4, Sniper Elite 5 and more. much more. Ubisoft tried to take the list offline through a dmca request, without success.

There is also another unofficial source of information. On Friday, information about the game came out via the usually knowledgeable leaker Tom Henderson and website eXputer. The game would, at least during this testing phase, consist of Battle Zone and Showdown modes. The latter mode is a small-scale battle royale in which four teams of two players try to survive alone. The Battle Zone mode uses the arena format where two larger teams of four players try to be the first to reach 100 points. The mode is compared by Henderson to Hardpoint from the Call of Duty franchise; In that case, teams have to hold different locations for as long as possible to earn points.

In the meantime, Henderson has supplemented his article with some rough gameplay footage from Project Q. It also clearly shows that the game is not yet at the end of its development.
