The source code of game streaming service Twitch appears to have been leaked. An anonymous person posted a torrent on 4chan containing files containing source code for the service, as well as internal company documentation such as how much streamers have earned.

Someone leaked the torrent on boards /g/ and /t/, write several security researchers. The anonymous user of the platform has leaked it under the hashtag #twitchleaks, which is now also widely circulated on other social media. The leaker says he will get “more disruption and competition in the online video streaming services” with the leak because he no longer likes the existing communities on Twitch. Twitch has not yet acknowledged that the data was indeed leaked.

The torrent contains 128GB of information about the platform. Sources have confirmed to Video Games Chronicle that the information in the dump is authentic. However, no analysis of the data files has yet been performed. It would be in the dump for both the current and old source code. It could be traced back to the creation of Twitch. The source code would also be for Twitch’s mobile and console clients. In addition to the source code, SDKs and internal AWS configurations and tools used by the company’s security department have been leaked. Internal information was also allegedly leaked, including reports of how much streamers earned on the platform in 2019.

It is not known whether user passwords have also been stolen. Those rumors are circulating, but have not been verified at this time. The documents also contain indications that Twitch is working on a competitor for Steam. That would have the working title Vapor.
