TV manufacturer TP-Vision has announced a new OLED television under the Philips flag during the IFA electronics fair. The 65POS9602 is equipped with a 65″ OLED panel, three-sided Ambilight and a speaker system that is incorporated in the foot.

The 65POS9602 is the second model in the Philips 9 series; Earlier this year, TP Vision already introduced a 55″ OLED model, the 55POS9002. This larger 65″ variant is technically largely the same as its smaller brother: the TV is equipped with a 4K OLED panel that contains 99 percent of the DCi p3 standard and can also handle the hdr formats hlg and hdr10.

The maximum brightness of the television is 900 cd/m², which is higher than the 750cd/m² that the smaller model can achieve. The images are processed by a quad-core soc called the P5 Perfect Picture Processing Engine by TP Vision.

The sound system is concealed in the foot, which clearly distinguishes the television from the smaller model. The front of the foot is finished in full-width Kvadrat fabric, concealing six forward-facing drivers. The low tones are provided by a rear-facing ‘triple ring’ speaker with integrated bass port. When mounted on the wall, the base can be attached together with the TV, so that the sound system can continue to be used.

The television is equipped with Ambilight lighting on the top and sides, so that the colors of the displayed image can be projected on the wall behind the television. The software is based on Android TV version 6 and the TV comes with the usual Philips remote control, which is equipped with a qwerty keyboard. For the time being, no information is known about price and availability.
