Telenet introduces ONE subscriptions for ‘unlimited’ fixed and mobile internet

Telenet will introduce two ONE subscriptions on April 26, with which subscribers receive unlimited fixed and mobile internet with FUPs of 3TB and 40GB per SIM card. When these limits are reached, the speeds are reduced. The ONE subscription starts at 66 euros per month.

In any case, a ONE subscription contains one mobile number with which unlimited calls and texts can be made. The two plans differ in the download and upload speeds, in addition, the more expensive ONEup subscription gets slightly more functions.

With the cheapest ONE subscription of 66 euros per month, subscribers get a fixed internet connection with a download speed of 150Mbit/s and an upload speed of 15Mbit/s. The speed of the mobile internet is limited to 30Mbit/s. With this subscription, subscribers also receive anti-phishing software in the modem.

The more expensive ONEup subscription costs 86 euros per month. With this subscription, Telenet promises a download speed of up to 1Gbit/s and an upload of 40Mbit/s for the fixed internet. Mobile internet is slightly faster with 40Mbit/s. This subscription also allows users to manage screen time, among other things, and provides users with Safespot+, security software that, according to Telenet, should prevent viruses, phishing and ransomware ‘on all devices’.

The two subscriptions share the same fair use policy. For fixed internet, Telenet looks at the peak hours, which are between 12:00 and midnight at the provider. If a user uses more than 3TB in a month during these peak times, the download and upload speeds for this user may be limited during the peak hours for that month. With the ONE subscription this will be 10Mbit/s down and 1Mbit/s up, with the ONEup subscription this will be twice as high. Incidentally, the peak hours ‘during the corona measures’ are from 5 p.m. to midnight and all ‘intensive users’ receive the limited speeds of the ONEup subscription.

The fup of the mobile internet depends on how many SIM cards a subscriber has linked to a subscription. A subscriber receives 40GB per mobile number, which is added to a combined volume of the subscription. With a subscription with three mobile numbers, a combined volume of 120GB is created. So in theory, one number should be able to use 100GB of data without any problems, as long as those other numbers don’t use more than 10GB each. If that combined volume is exceeded in a month, the speed is reduced to 512kbit/s for the rest of the month for all users of that subscription.

With both plans, subscribers can add up to five mobile numbers and TV. Television costs 9.50 euros per month for streaming 14 channels without a TV box, or 20 euros per month for all TV channels and a TV box. In addition, all subscribers can request a free data SIM card that cannot be used for calling or texting and a free landline.

The new plans will be introduced on April 26 and will replace the current WIGO and YUGO packages. Nothing will change for current subscribers for the time being, although Telenet will approach customers to switch. De Standaard also reports that Telenet’s cheapest fixed internet subscription, Basic Internet, will expire on Monday. Instead, Telenet is introducing an Easy Internet subscription, which includes anti-phishing software. There are no further differences. At 30 euros per month, this new subscription costs 1.40 euros more than the current subscription.
