The Early Access version of Hades II will be released in the second quarter of 2024, developer Supergiant Games confirms. The early version of the game was planned for this year, but has been postponed.

Supergiant Games writes that the Early Access version of Hades II will be released next year on Steam and in the Epic Games Store. That’s later than planned. The studio reports that it wants to delay the early version because it will have “at least as much” content as the Early Access version of the first Hades game when it was released on Steam. “While Early Access inherently means that a game is not yet complete, we want to do everything we can to ensure that Hades II is worth your time as soon as you can play it.”

The company will also hold a technical test for Hades II in the second quarter of 2024. A limited number of players can already try out the Early Access version of the game to find technical problems. That test build will have less content than the final version that will appear in Early Access next year. The technical test will be limited to a “relatively small subset of players who have expressed an interest in participating.” The company will share more details about this at a later date.

Supergiant Games announced Hades II late last year. The game revolves around Melinoë, the ‘princess of the underworld’ and sister of Zagreus, the main character from the first Hades game. The studio does not yet mention a concrete release date for the Early Access version. Supergiant will share that at a later time, as well as the prices and system requirements.
