A man has been arrested for stealing and selling copies of Starfield, about two weeks before the game’s release. At the beginning of this week he shared images of the game on social media. On Reddit it is claimed that some buyers have already received the game from the leaker.

The 29-year-old man, who calls himself DHavenShadow online, started sharing gameplay footage of Starfield last Sunday, writes Kotaku. He later listed several copies of the game on the Japanese second-hand sales site Mercari, including the Constellation Edition worth 300 euros. He also posted a video in which he is on his way to the post office, claiming to deliver the purchased games. The video also shows a large stack of Starfield games. It is claimed on Reddit that some buyers have already received their copies.

On Thursday, he deleted all his social media accounts. He was arrested the same day. He is charged, among other things, with stealing a total of between $2,500 and $10,000 in goods. According to IGN this concerns the stolen Starfield games. No further information has been released. It is unclear how DHavenShadow obtained the games. Starfield releases on September 6 for PC and Xbox Series consoles.
