Game developer Square Enix has announced the mobile game Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. The game will merge all the games and storylines of the Final Fantasy VII universe and is set to be released in 2022.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is coming to iOS and Android sometime in 2022, bringing the storylines of the original Final Fantasy VII series in what the developer calls a nostalgic visual style. In addition, Square Enix will release Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier later this year, a battle royale game for smartphones, set thirty years before the original Final Fantasy VII game and focusing on the Soldier group. You play that game solo or in teams of three and it has RPG elements, director Tesuya Nomura tells Weekly Famitsu.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will be a single player game in which players will progress in chapters along the entire storyline of the original Final Fantasy VII series, including Final Fantasy VII, Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus. The mobile game goes through all the key moments in those games, while also adding new story elements about the origin of the group Soldier, according to Polygon written by the writer of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kazushige Nojima. In the interview with Weekly Famitsu, Nomura says that the game will not come out in one go, but in monthly chapters.

It was previously announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake will receive an upgrade for the Playstation 5 with an extra chapter. The update is free for players who already own the remake on PS4 and can also be purchased separately. The upgrade has better graphics, faster loading times and a photo mode. You can also choose a 4K mode and a performance mode with a frame rate of 60 fps.
