Sony has sold a total of three million units of its PlayStation VR headset. The manufacturer itself has announced this. That means that 3 to 4 percent of the owners of a PS4 console have bought the VR headset with it.
Sony has reached the number of three million VR headsets sold in about a year and nine months; the PSVR went on sale in the fall of 2016. It’s unknown how the PSVR compares to the competition, as Facebook and HTC don’t disclose exact sales figures for the Oculus Rift and the Vive, respectively.
In total, around 3.5 percent of PS4 owners have purchased the PSVR, according to the figures. Sony has sold around 81.5 million units of the PS4 to date. According to the company, a total of 21.7 million games and “experiences” have been downloaded for the PS4. So far, there have been an average of seven per headset.
