Software Update: WinRAR 3.00 Beta 3

hat informs us that there is a new beta of the well-known compression program RAR. This time it is available in 4 flavors. A WinRAR for Windows, a RARLinux for linux (.tar.gz), a DOS and OS/2 RAR and a *BSD/UNIX RAR.

Several bugs have been fixed in this new beta. Below is a complete list of this new version.

Version 3.00 beta 3

  • “Context menu items…” button in “Integration settings” and setup dialogs allows to choose items to display in Explorer context menus. For example, if you do not need “Compress and email” feature, you may disable it here.
  • too large font in the archive information dialog under Windows 98/Me
  • archives contained folders and stored (-m0 method) files could not be converted to SFX
  • “Shortcut” command in SFX modules did not work with relative source file paths
  • ‘rc’ (reconstruct) command could show “Cannot open ” message in case of more than 10 volumes;

  • “Put each file to separate archive” option did not work when activated from Explorer menu;
  • beta 2 could fail to decompress multivolume SFX archive with encrypted file names.
