The third release candidate of version 1.0 of Wine was released on Friday. As may be known by now, it is possible to run DOS and Windows programs on Linux, Freebsd and Mac OS X, among others, using Wine. Every two weeks a new version is released by the developers with all developments until then. That way the user community help with testing and troubleshooting. When the final release of version 1.0 comes out depends on the number of issues still to be resolved, but it is expected to take place sometime in June. As we are used to from the previous release candidates, the changelog does not contain any new features, but it does contain a large number of bug fixes:
Bugs fixed in 1.0-rc3:
- Wine loses its X-Window when switching to another virt. desktop in Fvwm
- advapi32: Fulltilt Poker hangs (GetCurrentHwProfileA is a stub)
- Adobe Dreamweaver MX 2004 installs well but does not run.
- riched20:Live Person crashes
- wine_dbg_vprintf: debugstr buffer overflow (contents: ‘err:msvcrt:demangle_datatype Unknown type ‘)
- supertux 0.3 freezes (dsound bug)
- C&C 3 setup displays empty window
- Stalker – some objects appear over-bright or too dark
- Dreamfall: speech gets skipped in dialogues
- Acomba: Freezes after closing an unsaved invoice
- unimplemented function ntoskrnl.exe.memset
- Textures on vehicles are too dark in GTA Vice City!
- Cyrillic glyphs are missing in built-in Tahoma Bold
- fixme:winsock:WSASocketW Unsupported socket family -1!
- ABBYY FineReader 7.0 Professional Edition crashes at start
- All applications over VNC: Applications freeze for any letters input
- DestroyContext in dlls/wined3d/device.c causes regression in Everquest2
- Audiosurf: Questviewer.exe crashes with page fault.
- Arindal.exe Text-Windows not displayed correctly
- OpenGL regression in Hitman 2 and Hitman 3
- SupCom Addon: No units visible
- Sacrifice game crashes in full screen mode
- Warcraft III 1.21b – Crashes with Fatal Error on Switch Desktop
- Favorites menu doesn’t work as expected
- WinterMute Engine drawing window bug
- dzh2 crashes on startup
