After the Usenet community FTD was forced to close its doors earlier this year, several initiatives have arisen to make downloading files via Usenet easier. One of these was Spotnet, which works through ‘spots’, suggestions made by users. However, that program was slow, prone to fraud and unclear. SpotGrit should put an end to these concerns. It provides an all-in-one solution for finding, downloading (via SABnzbd), and extracting files from Usenet. The first stable release was released last Monday and compared to the beta, the installation process is said to have been improved and of course a lot of bugs have been fixed.
