Soulseek is a p2p exchange network that uses so-called virtual spaces in which users with the same interests can come together. This makes it possible to quickly and easily retrieve your own preferences. SolarSeek uses the Soulseek network and runs on the Mac OS X platform. The developer has released version 0.91 with the following changelog:

Version 0.91:

SolarSeek 0.91 is now Panther (Mac OS X 10.3) compatible. It will now run on both Panther and Tiger.

Other minor enhancements:

• You can sort by availability in chats.
• There is a toolbar with Download and Chat buttons (search and browse coming in the future).
• Bitrate and length is now displayed.
• You can set your online status.

Version 0.90:

Happy days! A new version is ready for download. If you liked the previous version of SolarSeek, you’ll really like the new version. This one sports a gigantic number of improvements and modifications over the last one. The entire interface has been redesigned and is much easier to understand and easier to use.

Version 0.90 is not Panther 10.3 compatible. We are working on a fix and should release it shortly.

• You can search the network, rooms, friends or a specific person.
• Searches are saved when you close the program.
• Names display whether someone is on or offline.
• Results display an icon for the file type.
• Results are dimmed when they cannot be downloaded immediately.
• Results can be sorted based on a projected transfer performance rating.
• As results are found, the search turns bold and displays the number of results found.
• Transfers display estimated finish time, speed, progress bar.
• Transfers can be stopped, restarted, removed.
• Failed transfers are automatically restarted at a later time.
• The transfer window will locate your downloaded files.
• Uploads can be cancelled.
• Total download and upload speeds are calculated.
• Chats are less noisy with joins/parts (gone for now).
• Chats turn bold and display the number of new messages.
• More specific information about connection problems.
