Software update: RouterOS 6.46

MikroTik released RouterOS 6.46 last week. RouterOS is an operating system that focuses on running router tasks. Think of routing network traffic, of course, but also bandwidth management, a firewall, controlling wireless access points, a hotspot gateway and a VPN server. It can be done on the hardware from MikroTik if it works on x86 or virtual machines. A license required, which is included with the purchase of MikroTik hardware. Major Changes in version 6.46:

  • lora – added support for LoRaWAN low-power wide-area network technology for MIPSBE, MMIPS and ARM;
  • package – accept only packages with original filenames (CVE-2019-3976);
  • package – improved package signature verification (CVE-2019-3977);
  • security – fixed improper handling of DNS responses (CVE-2019-3978, CVE-2019-3979);
