Pi Segment is a new distributed computing project that attempts to calculate the Pi number to its two quadrillionth bit. This would break PiHex’s current world record from September 2000. The number Pi was there calculated to the quadrillionth bit as in this announcement can be read. Pi Segment currently has a number of versions behind it and they have already checked the world record of PiHex. With version 1.4.0.0, which has recently become available, the world record is actually being broken. To participate, we refer you to this page where to download the program.
