Software update: NewsLeecher 3.0 beta 6

Spread the love

NewsLeecher releases new beta releases continuously. Even before we can inform you about version 3.0 beta 5, beta 6 is already out. With this program messages from newsgroups on Usenet can be read and files can be downloaded. Among other things, the program can download from multiple servers simultaneously, has support for yEnc encryption and can handle up to 99 threads simultaneously. These are the changes since version 3.0 beta 4:

Changes in 3.0 beta 6:

  • Partly downloaded articles (files) are now saved between sessions. This means that if you close down NewsLeecher after having downloaded half of a 50MB article, NewsLeecher will continue from where it left off when started up again. Earlier versions of NewsLeecher “forgot” the article download state between sessions and would have restarted the download from scratch.
  • The odometer can now be reset to a user specified download count.
  • Improved the groupview-looks of partially active Virtual Groups. More info
  • The progressbar didn’t work when updating headers in ‘preview panel’ mode. More info

Changes in 3.0 beta 5:

  • Added an option to reset the newly added Odometer download counter. The reset option can be accessed from the ‘Tools/More’ menu.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused NewsLeecher to corrupt downloaded files due to connection resets from the server.
  • It is now written to the log whenever a connection to a server is closed. Either by the user or by the server itself, due to a timeout for example.
  • Small improvements here and there (Automatic size unit used by odometer, F11 shortcuts turns on/off conn. window again, etc)
  • The ‘not scrolling to top’ bug wasn’t fixed in beta 4. Should be fixed now. More info
  • Some minor bug fixes.
