The second release candidate of NewsBin Pro version 6.60 has been released. With this program files, such as photos, videos and programs, can be retrieved from usenet. It has everything you would expect from a usenet downloader, such as support for multithreading, ssl and autopar. Furthermore, there are extensive filter options and an optional Usenet search service can be used. The changelog since rc 1 looks like this:

  • Minor adjustments to pathing (for leftovers)

  • Fixed compaction issue from a specific poster.
  • Changes to ensure “path topic” is set in both periodic and header download watches.

Version 6.60 Release Candidate 2 Build 4134

  • Fixed issue where Newsbin would stall if you download a bunch of spam with identical subjects.
  • Fixed issue where server color wasn’t displayed correctly

Version 6.60 Release Candidate 2 Build 4133

  • Re-enabled the $(SEARCH) path variable
  • GOG (Group of Groups), Watch, and Custom lists are now used instead of group names.
  • Made change so when an NZB is loaded the topic is set to the first group found in the NZB.
  • Fixed the ability to disable unRAR for a watch list.
  • Changed behavior of the Download to Folder Named for Subject option. Needed to scrub some extra characters out and cap to 100 characters.
  • Change so when adding children of a set to the download list with “Named for Subject” each child gets its own folder.
  • Fixed default server color if none is set.
  • Fixed a potential stall issue in the user interface.
  • Made a change to ensure chunks get returned to the pool even if an exception is thrown.

Known issues:

  • Disabling unrar in the watch lists doesn’t work
