Software Update: Mp3tag 3.09

Florian Heidenreich has released version 3.09 of Mp3tag. With this program, the meta tags of the most common music formats can be modified. Support is provided for ID3v1, ID3v2.3, ID3v2.4, mp4, wma, Vorbis comments and Ape tags. Furthermore, the file names can be modified on the basis of those tags and playlists can be generated. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:


  • Added support for Windows 11.
  • Added reporting of existing ID3v1 tags in `%_tag%` for FLAC files. (#13156)
  • Added support for dark mode under Windows 10 starting with build 1809 based on system setting. (#18264, #19363, #47059, #49772, #50076, #52327)
  • Added option to disable notification message that warns about unsaved changes. (#53945)


  • Refreshed app icon.
  • Updated code signing certificate.


  • Whitespace characters before file extension dot were automatically removed (since v3.08a). (#54389)
  • Channel count is not correctly reported in all cases for MP4 with AC3. (#54321)
  • Improved progress bar background color in dark mode. (#47059/34)
  • `$validate` scripting function performed unwanted case conversion if parameter contained dots (since v3.08a). (#54237)
  • Navigating via Shift+Tab from Filter to Tag Panel did not work in all cases.
  • Some parts of the main window were not redrawn correctly on dark mode setting change (since v3.08a).
  • Runtime error on program start under Windows 7 (since v3.08a). (#54151)
  • Renaming files with creating folders could possibly result in invalid folders names ending with spaces or dots. (#53987)
