Software update: Linux kernel 2.5.38

Spread the love

The Linux kernel has welcomed version 2.5.38. Main change is to fix a bug that caused X to crash. Here’s what Linus Torvalds has to share with us:

Trying to be a bit more timely about releases, especially since some people couldn’t use 2.5.37 due to the X lockup that should hopefully be fixed (no idea _why_ that old bug only started to matter recently, the bug itself was several months old).

ia64 updates, a vm86 mode bug that bit XFree86 startup (and must have bitten dosemu too, but maybe people aren’t using DOS much any more), PCI driver attach fixes, JFS, ACPI, net drivers etc.[break]Those who would like to see some more changes can here go for the full changelog. The kernel is here to download. In the unlikely event that the link breaks down here to find a ‘few’ mirrors.
