Knoppix has recently been upgraded to version 3.8.2. The new release is from here as an iso file and takes up roughly 694MB of disk space. Knoppix is ​​a Debian-based operating system and can be burned to a bootable writable CD. Almost all hardware is automatically detected at startup. Because no data can be written to CD, it is possible to put data on a memory or USB stick. Version 3.8.2 comes with the following changes from 3.8.1:

KNOPPIX Version 3.8.2 is now available on the mirrors. It’s a new update for the 3.8 Cebit 2005 Edition. change vs. 3.8.1:

  • dist-upgrade (all software packages from current Debian/testing)
  • Kernel 2.6.11 update
  • the madwifi drivers are back
  • kwifimanager in KNOPPIX/network menu
  • OpenOffice 1.1.4 security update
  • Swapping on Knoppix.swp on a NTFS partition should now work
  • Replaced Fabian Franz’ originalknoppix-installer with the version from Jörg Schirottke/Kanotix
  • fixed SCSI drivers in boot image
