Software Update: Dropbox 2.6.18

A new stable version of Dropbox has been released. Dropbox is an online storage service that makes it possible to synchronize files between different computers. In addition, files and photo albums can be shared with people who don’t have Dropbox accounts. Clients are available for Windows, Linux, OS X, iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Kindle Fire. A free account gives you access to 2GB of storage, with the option to expand it by introducing new users. For ten, twenty or fifty dollars a month, that’s 100GB, 200GB or 500GB respectively.

Version 2.6.0, among other things, added the ability to pause uploads from the system tray, and the Windows and OS X versions have received a new installation procedure. Since version 2.6.6, the following changes have been made:

  • Better handling of Windows Dropbox shortcut removals
  • Some new translations (still missing a few)

  • Fix a bug where the Dropbox folder would not go back to the same place on relink for dual account and DfB users
  • Fix a bug where Dropbox wouldn’t work if your DfB team name had unicode characters
  • Fix incorrect text on setup wizard panel
  • Other small fixes

  • Standardize Dropbox folder name for DfB users
  • Prevent moving a Dropbox folder into another Dropbox folder
  • Prevent two Dropbox folders from having the same name
  • Do not merge Dropbox folder with a symlink

  • Multiaccount fix: Update camera uploads logic immediately on connecting two Dropboxes
