With the Auto Gordian Knot program, DVDs and MPeg2 files can be easily converted to an avi file. Among other things, DivX or XviD can be used for the video compression and ac3, dts or mp3 for the sound compression. Development of the program has been on hold for a while, because the costs for developer ‘len0x’ did not outweigh the benefits. He did, however, leave behind the promise to occasionally release updates. The version that was released a few days ago has already been succeeded by the next beta version with 2.46 as the version number. The abbreviated announcement looks like this:

Quick update that should solve popup issue with DGIndex along with a few small enhancements. Changelog:

• DGMPgDec updated to version 1.5.0 beta 2 to prevent popups during encode
• included MPC 6.4.9.0 that does preview now
• compiled with new compiler/libraries
• added option to go to sleep (stand by) mode after encode
• colormatrix filter is updated to version 2.2
