Download Firebird 2.0.3
Databases are often used to store large amounts of data, as they are easier to maintain and approach than a simple text document in which the data is recorded. Well-known names are of course Oracle with its Oracle 11g database, IBM with the DB2 database and Microsoft with SQL Server.
Firebird originates from the InterBase database of Inprise Corp (today Borland Software Corp), the history of InterBase and Firebird is on this page to read. This relational database supports various operating systems on which it can be installed, such as the Linux and Windows platform, allowing it to be widely deployed. The developers recently released version 2.0.3 released with the following note:
Version 2.0.3:
This sub-release does not add any new functionality to the database engine. It contains a number of fixes to bugs discovered since the v.2.0.1 sub-release and corrects a regression that caused the withdrawal of the v.2.0.2 sub-release. Minor improvements include a port of Firebird 2.0.3 Classic for MacOSX on Intel and increased access security for the Firebird log.
Version 2.0.2
This sub-release was withdrawn.
Version 2.0.1:
This was the first sub-release since the 2.0 release in November, 2006. It adds no new features (those are coming in v.2.1) but provides a large number of bug-fixes and a few improvements. It is highly recommended that v.2.0 installations be upgraded to get the benefits of these.
