Seagate will release an external SSD with RGB lighting for gamers in March

Seagate announced two external SSDs at CES. The company comes with a Firecuda Gaming SSD with speeds up to 2GB/s and built-in RGB LEDs and a BarraCuda Fast SSD. The latter will be launched in February. The gaming SSD will follow in March.

The FireCuda Gaming SSD has a USB 3.2 gen 2×2 type c connection, with maximum theoretical speeds of 20 Gbit/s. According to Seagate, the SSD can reach speeds of up to 2GB/s. The SSD works with the Seagate Toolkit software. This allows the integrated RGB LEDs to be controlled. The FireCuda Gaming SSD will be delivered from March in capacities of 500GB, 1TB and 2TB for 230 euros, 290 euros and 530 euros respectively. The SSD is formatted with the NTFS file system by default.

Seagate also comes with external BarraCuda Fast SSDs. These have a USB 3.1 Gen 2 connection of type C, and reach speeds of up to 540MB/s. The SSDs work with Windows and macOS by default because it uses the exFAT file system. The BarraCuda Fast SSDs can be used for backups. This can be set through Seagate’s Toolkit software. The BarraCuda Fast SSDs will be released in February in 500GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities. These cost 100 euros, 160 euros and 330 euros respectively.
