Samsung is working on a fix for issues with the primary camera of the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra. Users have complained about blurring around objects in photos taken with these devices. This would cause mainly close-up images to become blurry.

On the company blog Samsung confirms the existence of the blur around objects when taking a close-up with the main camera. According to Samsung, the larger aperture helps when taking photos in the dark, but at the same time leads to selective focus on the background. This can cause images to look a bit blurrier in certain places.

The problem would occur less often with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, because the camera automatically switches to the wide-angle camera when taking a close-up. A Focus Enhancer is also activated to prevent blur. In high-resolution mode, these features are not enabled, so the background of the close-up may still suffer from blurring.

Samsung promises to fix the problems in a future software update. It is not yet known when the update will appear. Before that happens, the company recommends that you stand a little further away from the object when taking a photo. There would also be no or less blur if the user held the device vertically instead of horizontally.
