Rumor: Sandisk is considering selling itself
According to rumors, Sandisk has plans to sell itself to another company. Although no final decisions have been made yet, there is already interest from two competitors: Micron and Western Digital.
That reports Bloomberg, who is often the first to know about confidential business plans. According to the sources consulted, Sandisk has engaged a bank to investigate whether a sale is a realistic possibility. Talks have already been held with Micron and Western Digital. Whether an offer has actually been made by one of the two companies is uncertain. Bloomberg states that no final decision has yet been made on a sale, which means that the talks may also fall off.
Probably, if a sale is decided, an agreement has to be found with Toshiba. That’s because Sandisk and Toshiba are collaborating on flash storage products and also co-operate factories. It is unclear whether the Japanese manufacturer will raise objections.
Sandisk is mainly known for its flash storage products and has a market value of approximately $13 billion, or approximately $11.4 billion. The mentioned interested parties Micron and Western Digital are also active in the world of storage products. None of the companies declined to comment on Bloomberg’s coverage.
