Samsung is working on a ‘selfie smartphone’ in its Galaxy Grand line, according to a new rumor. The Galaxy Grand Prime is said to have a 5-megapixel front camera. Samsung’s most expensive device, the Galaxy Note 4, has ‘only’ a 3.7-megapixel camera on the front.

The smartphone, aimed at taking self-portraits, would have a front camera that can take photos in a 4:3 ratio with a resolution of 2576×1932 pixels, according to photos that the Vietnamese site The Gioididong has put online. The front camera can record videos in full HD.

According to the name, the Galaxy Grand Prime will fall into Samsung’s Galaxy Grand line. Those devices are about the size of phones in the Galaxy S line, but have less beautiful screens with a lower resolution and have less powerful processors and less memory than the more expensive options.

According to the Vietnamese site, this Grand Prime has a 5 “screen with a resolution of 960×540 pixels and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with four processor cores at 1.2 GHz. The battery has a capacity of 2600 mAh, says The Gioididong.

Phones and cameras geared toward taking selfies have become commonplace in recent times. Huawei puts a lot of emphasis on it, while Nokia, HTC and Sony are also working on it. New cameras from camera manufacturers often also focus on taking self-portraits, such as Canon compact cameras and a Nikon model.
