Rumor: AMD to announce Threadripper PRO 7000 CPUs on October 19th

AMD may announce its upcoming Threadripper PRO 7000 processors on October 19. Wccftech reports this based on its own sources. These workstation processors would have a maximum of 96 Zen 4 cores, which corresponds to previous rumors.

According to Wccftech sources AMD plans to announce the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000 series on Thursday, October 19. The company would initially focus on a release for pre-built workstations from OEMs. The tech website speaks of ‘limited’ separate availability of the processors, but does not elaborate on what that exactly means. The company’s previous Threadripper PRO chips only became available for individual sales months after release.

AMD’s Threadripper PRO 7000 series is expected to be based on the Zen 4 architecture. The chips will reportedly have up to 96 cores, just like the EPYC 9004 server processors that AMD previously released. The chips are also said to have 384MB L3 cache, support for up to eight memory channels and 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes. The chips should use new TRX50 and WRX50 platforms.

AMD hasn’t officially announced the upcoming Threadripper PRO chips yet, although leaked marketing images previously suggested they’ll arrive in Fall 2023, also writes VideoCardz. The possible prices of the chips are not yet known.
