Amazon has cut 180 jobs from its gaming division. Insiders report this to Reuters, among others. This includes the entire Crown channel on Twitch, alongside the company’s Game Growth team.

Amazon is closing, among other things, the Crown livestream channel where popular game streamers participated in entertainment shows. This is evident from a memo from Amazon Gaming vice president Christoph Hartmann which was seen by Reuters. Amazon’s Game Growth team, which helped developers promote their games, will also be cut entirely.

The company says it wants to focus its resources on growth areas. For example, Amazon wants to focus on developing its own games; Amazon still plans to release new titles, including the upcoming Throne and Liberty and Blue Protocol games, in addition to new Tomb Raider and The Lord of the Rings titles, according to Hartmann.

Amazon also wants to focus more on distributing games through the Amazon Prime subscription service. The company gives subscribers free games every month and wants to put more focus on that. Earlier this year, Amazon already reorganized its gaming division. Then about a hundred jobs were cut.
