The Pokémon Company is releasing a new game for Android and iOS. Pokémon Rumble Rush is a beat-’em-up game and is currently only available on the Australian Play Store. The smartphone game will soon be released worldwide.

The game is free and includes in-game purchases from $1.09 to $27.99 each. The gameplay is similar to previous Pokémon Rumble games, which came out for the Nintendo Wii, Wii U and 3DS. Players choose a Pokémon and battle other Pokémon on a playing field by tapping it. The goal is to defeat as many opponents as possible.

When fighting Pokémon, there is always a chance that the defeated monster will befriend the player. If that is the case, the player can use this Pokémon himself for subsequent battles. Pokémon Rumble Rush takes place on different islands, each with its own Super Boss battle. Winning those battles yields items to make Pokémon stronger.

Pokémon Rumble Rush is already in the Google Play Store, but can’t be downloaded in the Benelux yet. It is not yet known when the smartphone game will officially be released. According to the announcement, the worldwide release will follow ‘soon’.
