The personal information of 4.9 million Georgians has been leaked. In addition to names and addresses, this also concerns dates of birth, identification numbers and telephone numbers. It also contains information from deceased persons. The database is for sale on the dark web.

The database has appeared on a forum on the dark web and was first spotted there by security firm Under The Breach. He shared the information with ZDnet. The database comes in the form of a 1.04GB Microsoft Access file. That contains 4,934,863 entries, indicating that the information of many deceased Georgians is in the database. The country has 3.7 million inhabitants.

It is not known where the stolen data came from. It was initially thought that this would come from the central electoral council of the country, but it denies this. It is also not clear whether the person who put the data on the forum is the person who stole the data.
