OnePlus: FactoryMode warning is false positive from Google

Google Play Protect’s warning about OnePlus’ FactoryMode app is a false positive. That says the community manager of the smartphone manufacturer. Google would no longer show the warning.

Community manager David Y. writes on the OnePlus forum that the company has reached out to Google after reports surfaced about the Play Protect warning. OnePlus says it is a false positive and Google would agree, after which the warning was removed.

Earlier this week, reports surfaced from OnePlus 3 and 3T users updating to Oxygen OS 5.0.1 and then receiving a warning from Google Play Protect about the FactoryMode app. The warning labeled the app as malicious and stated that it contains code that attempts to circumvent Android’s security measures.
