Olympus will release a 12-200mm f/3.5-6.3 lens for cameras with a microfourthirds sensor at the end of March. The zoom lens, which is 10 cm long and weighs 455 grams, has a suggested retail price of 899 euros.

The length of 10cm applies to the retracted position; when zooming in, the length of the lens approximately doubles, based on the product photo. The maximum diameter is 78mm and filters with a diameter of 72mm fit on the lens. According to Olympus, the Zuiko ED 12-200mm lens is sealed against dust and moisture.

The 12-200mm lens on microfourthirds cameras, which have a 2x crop factor, provides a zoom range comparable to a 24-400mm lens on a full-frame camera. The lens does not have built-in image stabilization, but many Olympus cameras have a stabilized image sensor.

Olympus has built the 12-200 mm from sixteen lens elements in eleven groups. The minimum focusing distance is 22cm and the aperture consists of seven blades. According to the manufacturer, there is a silent focus motor in the lens, which should come in handy when making video.
