Gigabyte laptops with a GeForce GTX 1070 8GB will receive an update with GPUs of a new generation from Nvidia at the end of this year. A representative of Gigabyte announced this on a forum.

Details about the new generation of GeForce GPUs did not give the Gigabyte-cum-Aorus employee on the OCUK forum. Videocardz reports about it, among others. The Gigabyte employee responded with his announcement to a user’s question about whether a version of the Aero 15X V8-CF1 with GTX 1070 and Intel hexacore with higher specifications was on the way.

Atom80 then announced that no refresh of this model is planned until the new generation of GPUs is announced. “Currently, that more is planned for the end of the year,” said the employee. Traditionally, the desktop GPUs are announced a few months earlier than the laptop variants.

There are still very few details about the new generation of GPUs from Nvidia. Even the code name is still unknown. Previously, the names Turing and Ampere had already been circulated. It is also not clear whether the cards with the GPUs will appear under the names GTX 11xx or GTX 20xx.
