Publisher 2K and developer Turtle Rock Studios have provided more details about Evolve’s open beta. In addition to the previously playable Hunt mode, Xbox One owners will also get access to the recently announced Evacuation game mode starting January 17.

The open beta is only available to Xbox One owners. Individuals who have previously participated in the Alpha for PC or PlayStation 4 will only be eligible for a smaller closed test in January. Therefore, they will not be able to play the new Evacuation mode and their progress will not be carried over to the official version once the game is released.

Xbox One owners are eligible for these features. They will be able to play Hunt mode first from January 15th. That option was already available in the earlier alpha. The difference is that in the new test there are two Monsters and eight Hunters. The number of playable maps has been increased by eight, bringing the total to twelve. The testers will then have access to the Evacuation game mode from January 17. 2K and Turtle Rock Studios claim that all unlocked Hunters and Monsters can be transferred once Evolve is officially released. The release date is set for February 10.

The alpha of Evolve was held on November 4. However, the first test had issues that prevented PlayStation 4 users from testing the game due to technical flaws. The alpha was extended by a few days. The announcement states that the matchmaking speed should be higher in January and that the servers should also be more stable. Offline mode is not available at all yet. The open beta ends on January 19.
