Netgear announces mobile hotspot with 4G to 1Gbit/s

Netgear has introduced the wireless hotspot Nighthawk M1. It has 4G with a maximum download speed of 1Gbit/s. The device is equipped with a battery, so it can be used on the go. The mobile router is currently only released in Australia.

The Nighthawk M1 is a 4×4 mimo router that allows maximum downloads of 1Gbit/s, according to the spec sheet. The router is equipped with a Qualcomm X16 modem, which is suitable for cat 16 lte. This version of the M1 router supports 4g on frequencies of 700, 800, 900, 1800, 2100 and 2600MHz.

The router, weighing 240g, supports Wi-Fi over both 2.4 and 5GHz and has a removable 5040mAh battery on board. It must be able to run the router for 24 hours. In addition, a 2.4 “LCD has been installed on the device, with which, for example, the data consumption can be seen. The M1 has a micro-SD card slot, Ethernet port and USB-C connection, in addition to a USB-A port. The router can be managed with a specially developed app.

The router is currently only available in Australia, where the release takes place in collaboration with provider Telstra. It is not known if and when the router will be released in the Benelux; a suggested retail price has not yet been announced.
