Microsoft: we are not afraid of iPhone or Android

Microsoft believes that it has nothing to fear from competitors such as Apple’s iPhone or Google’s Android OS in the smartphone market. Windows Mobile phones would have everything on board that consumers are looking for.

Microsoft’s British division chief John Curran says opposite Techradar that Windows Mobile has a big lead over competitors. “We have more than fifty partners, from a hardware perspective we are in good shape.” Android is not yet a competitor, because it still runs on few devices, while the iPhone is limited by the fact that it is only one model, which is supplied by a limited number of providers.

In addition, Curran believes that Windows Mobile is ahead of the competition: in the past twelve months, more smartphones have been sold with this operating system than with any other platform. This is because consumers have also discovered Microsoft’s mobile OS, says the CEO. “Devices such as the Touch Diamond, the Samsung Omnia and the Sony Ericsson Xperia have recently been released. These are good phones that have everything the consumer wants, but also bring the experience that people expect from Windows.”
