Microsoft has released a version of OneNote that is suitable for Apple’s OS X. The software is free to download. In addition, Microsoft has released a Windows version that is now also free for older versions of the company’s operating system.

Microsoft announced this via its Office blog. The free version of OneNote for OS X is available for immediate download from the Mac App Store. According to the company from Redmond, the software is suitable for OS X from version 10.9 and higher. A version for Apple’s mobile operating system iOS was already available.

At the same time as the version for OS X, a version for Windows has appeared. It is now also free for older versions of the operating system: a free app was already available for Windows 8 and above, as well as for the web, Android and Windows Phone.

The free version of OneNote doesn’t have all of the functionality that comes in the full version, which can be purchased as part of the Office suite. Microsoft does promise to provide the free version with updates in the future. The company has also released an API that developers can use to integrate OneNote into their apps.
