Xbox Game Pass netted Microsoft $2.9 billion last year, according to a document from the Brazilian market authority. It would be more than Nintendo and Electronic Arts have earned from gaming subscriptions. The stated amount does not include PC Game Pass.

Microsoft itself has converted the amount of almost three billion euros with the Brazilian market regulator CADE shared. It’s all about how much Microsoft has earned from console subscriptions worldwide; the PC Game Pass subscription is therefore not part of this. It’s not clear whether the Ultimate plan, which allows users to play both PC and console games, will be included.

According to CADE, Microsoft has a market share of 30 to 40 percent. According to the market authority, the American company is in second place, behind Sony. This company has a 40 to 50 percent market share in the console gaming subscription market. Sony itself has shared with CADE how much it earns from this, but did not want this information to be made public. Microsoft’s estimates for Nintendo and Electronic Arts are visible. Both companies don’t earn nearly as much from console gaming subscriptions as Microsoft does, the latter thinks.

Microsoft shared these amounts with the Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica. This Brazilian market authority has investigated Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. CADE has now approved the acquisition.
