Microsoft allows PC games to be donated via Microsoft Store

Microsoft offers the option to send PC games and PC game DLC as gifts through the Microsoft Store. Also, all Xbox One games are now available for gifting through the software company’s online store.

PC games will have a ‘Buy as Gift’ option after the feature has been added in the Microsoft Store. Users who purchase the games for others can enter the recipient’s email address. He will then receive a download code for the game.

Paid DLC, such as skins and maps, can also be given away, but pre-orders and virtual currency cannot. The addition expands on last fall’s release, when Microsoft allowed a limited amount of Xbox One games and subscriptions to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass to be released.

This option has now also been extended to all games on the Xbox One. Games for the Xbox 360 and the original Xbox are excluded. A restriction for both Xbox and PC is that codes can only be redeemed in the country in which the donor bought them.
