Intel will open a new chip factory in Israel, for which it will pay the equivalent of 22.9 billion euros. The factory should open in 2027 and be active until 2035. Intel will produce wafers there.

Intel is already active in the country; it already has several research centers and a factory there. The company will pay 7.5 percent tax on this factory instead of the usual 5 percent, but it will also get something in return. If it meets certain conditions, it will receive 12.8 percent of its investment back from the government. This is what Bloomberg writes, among others.

At the same time, Intel is expanding in Germany. There it is talking to the government about a possible fab in the city of Magdeburg. The two parties are currently negotiating the billions of euros in subsidies that will be involved, but they are reportedly nearing an agreement.
