Intel confirms release of Arc Battlemage video cards in 2024

Intel has confirmed that the next generation of Arc graphics cards will be released next year. The company showed a roadmap at an event in Japan that mentions that release year. No specifications are known yet.

Intel confirmed the arrival of the Battlemage GPUs in 2024 during a Japanese event celebrating the release of its Meteor Lake CPUs. also write Japanese website 4Gamer and tech website Wccftech. Intel will release its next Arc GPUs under the codename Battlemage. These will be based on a new Xe2 architecture, as was previously announced.

It is not yet known exactly when the video cards will be released. A previously leaked roadmap stated that Intel wants to release its first Battlemage GPUs in the second quarter of 2024, but that has not yet been officially confirmed.

Battlemage will be the second generation in Intel’s Arc series of discrete video cards. These follow up the Alchemist series, which came out last year. Intel’s first Arc video cards suffered from a difficult release, with multiple delays, driver problems and mediocre performance, especially with older graphics APIs such as DirectX 9 and 11. Intel previously mentioned Battlemage as the successor to Alchemist, which in turn will be succeeded by Celestial and Druid.
