Clues have been discovered in Chromium’s source code that Google Chrome will receive support for Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con controllers. In theory, this means that users will soon be able to play games in a browser screen via these controllers.

The discovery of the new function by Twitter user Owen Williams comes on the eve of Google’s Game Developers Conference, on March 19, where the tech giant is expected to reveal more details of its new game streaming service. Streaming games through Chrome isn’t entirely new; At the end of 2018, Google already demonstrated how Assassins’ Creed Odyssey could be played via the browser using a wired controller.

The additional support for the Nintendo Switch controllers may indicate that more games will be streaming via Chrome soon. Whether this also includes titles from Nintendo itself is not yet clear. Incidentally, the Linux version of Chrome provided early support for Nintendo’s Switch Pro controller for some time. According to 9to5Google, support for the Joy Con controllers is currently still being worked on and the feature will be introduced in Chrome 75 at the earliest.
