Google provides its search function and Maps with an incognito mode. The internet giant will also make it easier to remove data from Maps and YouTube in the future, and the privacy settings for accounts will be available from multiple applications.

Google is also bringing the existing incognito mode that is already in Chrome and YouTube to Maps and the Search app. Searches sent via incognito mode will then not be linked to the user’s Google profile.

Google announced the new changes during developer conference I/O. The company says it wants to make it easier for users to manage their data. At the moment, it is still a complicated process for users to delete data from various apps. This is only possible on smartphones from Gmail or Drive, but soon it will also be possible from the Search app, Maps, YouTube, Chrome, Google Assistant and Google News. From those apps, users can go straight to their account page where they can set which data is collected and linked to the profile.

The company has also started rolling out the auto-delete feature in the search app. It was previously announced. With that feature, users can set their search and browsing history to automatically disappear after a certain period of time. The feature is available immediately. From next month it will also be possible to automatically delete location history in this way.
