The Fujifilm X Webcam app with which certain Fujifilm system cameras can be used as webcams will come to macOS in mid-July. The camera manufacturer also releases updates for two models, with which those cameras can be used as webcams without X Webcam.

The macOS app requires at least macOS version 10.14, according to Fujifilm’s press release. With the X Webcam software, users can connect their system camera to a computer via a USB cable and use the camera as a webcam for video conferences, for example.

In addition to announcing the macOS software, Fujifilm says the X-A7 and X-T200 can be used as webcams starting today, without the X Webcam app. For this, the camera manufacturer has released a new firmware update for the cameras. The X Webcam application is currently compatible with the GFX100, GFX 50S, GFX 50R, X-H1, X-Pro2, X-Pro3, X-T2, X-T3 and X- T4 system cameras.

The X Webcam app has been available for Windows 10 since the end of May. Canon has previously released software that allows users to use their cameras as webcams, just like Panasonic. The Canon EOS Webcam Utility program is now also compatible with macOS. Third-party software such as OBS is often required to deploy cameras from other brands such as webcams.
