Reddit will charge money for using its API. This angers many users, who decide in large numbers to blackout their subreddits. That will happen next week, but the question remains whether this will solve the problems.

What’s happening on Reddit?

Hundreds of subreddits, from the smallest subreddits to some large communities such as Earthporn, LifeProTips, aww, Music and Videos, have stated that they will ‘go black’ from June 12. The moderators of the subforums gather in the subreddit /r/Save3rdPartyAppsand most individual subreddits have sticky topics created with their intention to participate in a general blackout.
